MAY
BAM: May 27-31. Our annual summer kick off event in Moab, Utah over Memorial Day weekend. We leave Thursday evening and return Monday evening (some provision made for those who can not leave until Friday). The trip is filled with outdoors activities from camping, hiking, off-roading, swimming and much more. Adventure creates memories but more than that the time spent together experiencing everything together builds lasting bonds.
JUNE
Encounter: June 6-12. HS camp hosted by LCU on their campus in Lubbock, Texas. Creative classes, talented and relevant speaker, great worship times and tons of kids combine for a powerful week.
FBW: June 13-16. Family Bible Week. Our teens will be involved in implementing this VBS styled event. Roles will vary from helping teachers to presenting lessons through drama, puppets and song. Of course a major element is just being a kid and having fun with the participants.
HS Mission “The Indian Camp”: June 25-July 2. Our high school (limited to 14 spots) team is headed to Arizona to be involved in a camp which targets Native Americans as participants. This is a primitive camp that offers a cross-cultural experience. During the Sunday through Wednesday session participants will sleep in tents, use natural bathroom facilities (shovel) and find out what four days with no shower is like.
Camp Cornerstone: June 26-July 2. Similar to Encounter but targeting MS. This event is hosted by Oklahoma Christian on the their campus. Expect lots of gross games, loud (bordering on obnoxious) behavior all wrapped around learning about and worshiping God. Middle schoolers love it.
JULY
Midnight Summit Lock-in: July 7-8. The lock-in takes place at the Summit County Church of Christ. Groups from all over the state will attend and enjoy the fellowship and worship.
MS Mission “Urban Outreach”: July 9-17 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. A work camp designed to help elderly struggling to keep up with the demands of today’s economy. During this trip we will visit the campuses of Oklahoma Christian and Harding University as well as have a time of recreation before returning.
Ponderosa Christian Camp: July 11-17. A traditional Bible camp located near Albuquerque, New Mexico. This HS only event will allow our teens an opportunity to experience what true community feels like while surrounded by God’s beautiful creation.
Pikes Peak Climb: July 25-27. I get asked every summer if we can hike to the summit. This summer we are going to do it. Expect to campout for two nights as we go up and as we come back. Each participant will be expected to provide his/her own equipment and food.
AUGUST
Rockies Game: An afternoon game on Aug 15.
6th Grade Welcome: Sunday, August 22 we will welcome all new 6th graders to the Youth Group. The orientation will take place at Fargo’s Pizza from 12:00-1:30. This event is for the entire family. Come eat and learn about what to expect in the coming years.
OTHER
$5 Dollar Fun Night: Some Wednesdays from June through August. Off campus events such as roller-skating, skateboarding, dollar movie, ice cream night, all are potential activities. We charge $5 to participate, which covers any expenses as well as allows us to do some fund raising for other more expensive events.
Warehouse Wednesdays: Most Wednesdays from June through August. Involves anything from a singing class, devotional, movie or even game night (could be outside).
Service Projects: Working around a house, cleaning up the buses and building in “The Warehouse,” each of these may be included in this summers offering for serving Eastside and this community.
