Summer 2011
MAY
BAM: May 26-30. Our annual summer kick off event in Moab, Utah over Memorial Day weekend. We leave Thursday evening and return Monday evening (some provision made for those who can not leave until Friday). The trip is filled with outdoor activities including camping, hiking, off-roading, swimming and much more. Adventures create memories but more than that the time spent experiencing everything together builds lasting bonds. $50 due May 22.
JUNE
Mission Warehouse: June 5-8. Beginning Sunday afternoon, four days of working for two hours in “The Warehouse” building, decorating, designing and whatever else we can do to improve the space. Power tools will be used. Adult help is needed.
Encounter: June 12-18. HS camp hosted by LCU on their campus in Lubbock, Texas. Creative classes, talented and relevant speaker, great worship times and tons of kids combine for a powerful week. $125 Due June 5.
FBW: June 12-15. Family Bible Week. Our teens will be involved in implementing this VBS styled event. Roles will vary from helping teachers to presenting lessons through drama, puppets and song. Of course a major element is just being a kid and having fun with the participants.
Road Trip: June 22-26. For juniors and seniors. Pick three places you would like to visit within a days drive. We will make at least one and try for all three. $100.
JULY
Midnight Summit Lock-in: July 6-7. The lock-in takes place at the Summit County Church of Christ. Groups from all over the state will attend and enjoy the fellowship and worship.
Urban Outreach: We are headed to Joplin, MO for tornado relief work. Following the work we will spend a few days in Arkansas touring Harding and spending a day at a Lake. We depart at 8:00 am July 9. Estimated return is July 17 at 9:00 pm. Cost is $50 due June 29. Additional costs include 6 meals.
Mountain View’s Mission: July 22-29 Service Project/ VBS style mission at Many Farms, Arizona Navajo Reservation. $300 with $50 DUE IMMEDIATELY. Contact Don Armes at 719.510.7091.
Camp, Hike and Raft: July 24-27. Take a short hike to a secluded place to camp. Spend a few days of exploring and enjoying the campfire. Cap off the adventure with an afternoon of white water rafting. Cost TBD.
AUG
Middle School Adventure: Something local (regional) that lasts overnight.
Rockies Game: A Sunday afternoon game in Aug.
Kick Ball Tournament: Wednesday the 31th.
6th Grade Welcome: Following services on Aug 28 the new 6th graders and families are invited to a welcome/orientation at Fargo’s Pizza from 12:00-1:30. Each family provides their own food and transportation. We will discuss all things youth group. Our goal is that each new member and all parents have a strong sense of what is to come so to make this transition as exciting as possible.
OTHER
$5 Dollar Fun Night: Some Wednesdays from June through August. Off campus events such as roller-skating, skateboarding, dollar movie, ice cream night, all are potential activities. We charge $5 to participate, which covers any expenses as well as allows us to do some fund-raising for other more expensive events. We leave at 6:30 and return to Eastside at 8:30.
Warehouse Wednesdays: Some Wednesdays from June through August. Involves anything from a singing class, devotional, movie or even game night (could be outside).
Service Projects: Working around a house, cleaning up the buses and building in “The Warehouse,” each of these may be included in this summers offering for serving Eastside and this community.
Camp Outs: Various times throughout the summer. Within an hour of Colorado Springs. Always prepare for chilly conditions.
One Day Out: Meet at Eastside at 7:00 am. Return the next day. Bring $25 and a sleeping bag. We will travel to some of our states more interesting places creating memories of great places and great friends.
